has anyone got advice on external & internal links to increase popularity? mellow.gif

Hi Dave.
Takes a lot of time and effort to do.
You need to find which search terms people are using to land on your site. Then go to all the other sites listed on the first page of the SE for the query.
See what they are doing and if you can find add your link page on them.
I personally use Extreme tracking to monitor throughout 24 hours. You can update your site info accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Sorry, can't give everything away I have learned, or I will have too much competition.

Hi Stephen,

You are giving a lot away already by using extreme tracker, other folks can see your stats and if they run a similar site, you are essentially giving them keywords for their sites and other valuable information to webmasters alike.

Hi Wayne.

They can have the keywords if they want. Its not the words, its what they do with them that counts. Anyone can get them for free anyway by using the searched terms on SE databases. Its not rocket science mate.

Re the links, Im a bit of a loss atm to see how/if links make a huge dif.

Ive been pushing one of my sites for the last 4 weeks, and am happy how it and the rest are moving on, but everytime I check against the top sites here, I am always surprised at the comparisons.

Heres what I mean..

My sites on these pics are singlecontacts.com and 121SEX4U.COM. (as well as mercilesscreations.net which ive been running for 4 years)

Am I on the right track ?

In march I had the following, but no memebers sad.gif

Hits 16285
Pages 3400
Visits 3279
Unique Visits 1018
New Unique 493

Thanks as always

Paul

Glad you posted that Paul. I thought I suddenly had a problem with MSN not having my sites anymore even though they get crawled every day. I see you get the same result with LPC.
paul (7781)
Yeah, results are about the same on other progs I use..

I know its only been running for 4 weeks now on Singlecontacts.com and 2 weeks on 121SEX4U.com, but I would have assumed at least some free members by now.. sad.gif

I am getting far too many page not found errors on all my sites. The errors are all for missing internal pages including registration second step on all sites. I think this is costing me many member signups. Tim, or Lisa, can you get this fixed please?

Example. This is for one site only. Times it by all my sites and it is a big problem.

what pages in your sites link to that address?? its wrong (missing "/registration/" )

I followed the registration process though on your site and it worked fine

this is the full string to that page....

According to google, there are 49 dead internal links on the site. It is to do with the http://www. and http://site address issue. Site is http://londonlesbians.lesbi-friends.com/ and internal links go to http://www. according to google analyctics the internal on http://www. don't exist.

Hi partners,

Stephen, I guess your knowledge about SEO is not rocket science either. Just tell me something about SEO I still don't know and I'll get your a PR10 by next week biggrin.gif. Also Dave, you can track your results with WDP admin, it is really comprehensive and most results provided by the service Stephen mentioned are available from the admin.

However Dave, I won't tell you much more than Stephen, not because I want to keep it secret (just spend thousands of hours studying SEO like I did and you will have an interesting knowledge too biggrin.gif), but because this is really, really huge... there are really thousands of things to do to increase links popularity. But basically, you have to swap links with relevant sites (with high pageranks if possible, check them with prchecker.info or with the googe toolbar). Also, try to have one-way links from free and paid directories, or from ezine or press release services by submitting valuable articles to get one-way links (which are much better, as you don't link back and their backlink is really considered a vote), post to relevant forums with your links as a signature, try blogging, ....). There are a few interesting posts about improving link popularity on the forum. And the internet has millions of useful resources dealing with this topic.

And above all... be patient, and do not give up. I will quote a well-known successfull marketer, who is also a partner and friend of mine : "The only limit it the sky" (cheers Chris biggrin.gif) ok he's just our forum administrator, but he's doing well with his sites. And I agree with him. There is no limit. Don't give up and you will reach the sky !
