Hi all.

Can anybody tell me if there is a way to change the content of the newsblock on the front page?
I'm a little tired of seeing the "How to Write a Good Profile" text and would like to change it at regular intervals so that the search engines see something new too!

Also, is there access to the main HTML code?
I would like to change images and maybe add / move components.

Maybe I could upload my own template?

I know that I could have a customised template made but I have the knowledge and the tools to do it myself.

The problem with stock templates is that search engines see too may similar ones, unique is good!

Thank you.

Been there, got that done so now I can progress!

Need more members! Anybody got any spare ones?
No? Oh well, on with the slog then! laugh.gif

To get new members is everyones goal. If you have the budget, advertise in your local newspaper. If you have a bigger budget and know how to use Google Adwords or other PPC campaigns then that is the only way you will get new members. Build it and they will come does not work in this business. There are literally thousands of people looking for a partner on the Internet, you have to find a way of diverting them to you. Give them what they want and they will come back, but first of all they need to find you.

Best of luck Robin, it is a hard slog but worth the $$ in the end

Very true Patsy.

Lots of research and learning always pays off in the end, just a matter of time and patience. smile.gif

Hi Robin,

You're right about being unique, it works alot better with SEO.

To change your editor to HTML, go into "Site settings" in site management, you should see the options for the editors, Custom HTML and WYSIWYG editor.
Tick the Custom HTML and save, then click "front page layout" and you'll have full access to the HTML there.
You can upload any addtional image files in "Files management".

Hope this helps. smile.gif

So true, however identifying your niche marketing will greatly assist. Make your site sticky, that is, give your visitors/members something that will keep them returning to your site on a daily basis.

Also not forgetting to have original text content. I know this maybe limited to the pre-formatted site templates, however any type of original content beats generic content hands down, because it will do you a lot more favour with your SEO.

(though keep in mind not to keyword stuff)

Having been in the online gambling industry since 2000, this like the dating industry isn't the cash cow it once was. Coming from an industry where it's not uncommon to compete for top 10 SERPS with 50,000,000+ sites. you soon realise that having a site in the top 10 is not much good if it looks like ever other site out there. You have to have an edge (even a gimmick) to stand out from the crowd, even when your in spot 1!

Over and above this, f you put in the hard yards and commitment to your site & believing that you will succeed, this will set you apart from a lot of people who eventual fall by the wayside through lack of motivation.

Cheers
