I have been asked by WDP to transfer my domain names to them, this makes them the legal owner.
I can keep the email addres as mine but would lose control of taking the name back as it as to be done on in writing on the companiy owners headed paper
Has anyone else been asked to transfer legal ownership of domain names for WDP sites
What have others done
Please help?
Regards
Stuart

This probably belongs in "Tips" butt you are better off keeping a sub domain on singlescrowd as it is established for years. A new domain name does not go down well with google. I recommend that you keep your subdomain as is and also keep your domain name as your own. May take 6 to 9 months to become established but if registered for minimum 2 years shows se's that is not just a fly by night.
Anyone elses comments are appreciated here.

ok, I am really not sure how to simply change the contact/billing details, anyone on here use Easily for domains, thats who I purchased them through and always leave them hosted at easily and just point to the DNS.
No issues on having new domains and am earning (small amounts anyway)

Hi partners,
Stephen, I don't really agree with you. Look, I bought www.datingonline4free.com about four months ago. It is a PR4 site. I checked your singlecrowd dating sites in your signature: still PR0 although they are probably older than my sites. Swingingonline4free, after three months, is a PR3, and sexonline4free is a PR2. Hottyswingers.com (3 months) is a PR3, and most of its subdomains (about 40 sites) are PR2. Two other new sites with new domains I am currently running are PR2 too.
So you don't need to have a well-established domain name to rank well. Just get a few quality one-way backlinks and you will rank well when the next PR update takes place.
No offence intended Stephen, I just don't think you need a well-established domain to get ranked quickly. Subdomains have no direct tie with the domain they pertain to. The domain can be a PR10, if you don't market your subdomain, it will still be a PR0.
Regards,
Thomas
You are again correct Mon Vieux. But you can still get top ranked with PR0 sites. Scuse the pun, but I get plenty of Frogs registering on my sites, even the PR0 ones. There are plenty of fish on the internet.
PS, Chris seems to have found a way of monitoring the forum and checking links without appearing to be signed in. Guess he loves to be a guest sometimes.

I have magicly recived google pr 1 and 2 on my sites allready. Yikes off topic again,LOL.
There should be a place where you can update your account details,---->Update Administrative Contact
Update Technical Contact
Update Billing Contact something like that. I have domains at 4 different places and a couple make it real hard to find, they want you to host with them also.
I even had one trying to charge my cc automaticly for hosting I did not want or need. Domains are free,in case anyone uses them. $3.99 names onece a week.or theres netfirms $4.99 domains all day!

Hi partners,
To make it clear Stuart, you don't transfer the actual ownership of the domain. Check
http://www.datingonline4free.com (one of my WDP sites) at
http://www.whois.net . I am still the owner of the domain right ?
The ownership will not be transferred, you will still own your domain, the details you transfer are BILLING DETAILS because of new visa/mastercard regulations. Without doing this, legally speaking, World Dating Partners would not be allowed to receive payments from members registered through your domain.

Yes right, I don't say your sites are not doing well because they are PR0 sites. Just depends on the way you market them. Obviously, the pagerank is really helpful to rank well. But that's not enough.

PS: I have never eaten any frog in my whole life, either do I know any of my friends or relatives who has ever tasted them

Even French restaurants hardly cook them.

Thanks for the info John, I have almost 10 domain names, and used to pay... 18 euros each ! So basically, about $25 !
Then I found some interesting domain providers at $9 each... but $5 is really cool !
I was affraid I would have to pay about 150? when I have to renew my domains !
Cheers !

hi there guys n gals when buying a new domain name, please consider that buying the name for 1 or 2 years looks like a fly by night to the search engines and will not rank you well. buy your domain name for 5 years!

You don't get the option of more than 2 years a lot of the time. The last one I registered three days ago I could only buy for 2 years maximum. On page 3 of Google already too.

Just a quick note: NEVER, never register a domain with 1and1. I've over 30 domains registered with them, I don't use their hosting, and fought for a week to add years to my registrations, not possible. They only renew for a year and do NOT offer even a 2 year or more registration. Absolutely insane and that's what I told them. I'm transfering now all domains to GoDaddy, namecheap and domainsite. All offer multiple years.
Just my 2 cents.

The last domain I have bought from goddady. Couldn't get longer than two years for it. They offer free hosting with the domain name but put their advertising on your site and you are not allowed to upload htm or html files. That really annoyed me in both cases.

Godaddy are the spammers favourite registrar, i think most will only give you the 2 year option unfortunately.

Help!!
Can I add to this pls. I have tried to change the Registration details on my Godaddy account to that of Datech. I have been told that if I change the Registrant Account for a Domain name the transaction ID and security code will be sent to the new registrant and removes the domain name from my list of domains and places it in the new registrant's account. Does this mean that I wont be able to access my details on Godaddy or am I looking at the wrong section for changing the details?

Hi Wendy,
I don't know about godaddy but with 123-reg, my 123-reg details are my own but when i modified my domains i used my name and put the address as datech.
So when you modify your domain you keep the registrant as your name but with company name and address you add the datech details. the actual godaddy account details stay as yours.
Hope this helps.

Bob.
Hi Robert
Thanks very much for the info. I'll give it a try! Wish me luck.

I thought that the billing details on a domain name was so that they would know where to send the bill when the domain name needed renewing. I was sure this had no relevence when it comes to taking payments via visa/mastercard. Do you have a link to these new regulations ?

Dear TopGear,
The domain name registrant, contact and billing details don't need to be changed now as we have changed the merchant account provider, and can offer our partners more flexibility on this matter.
Hope this helps,
Lisa
