Hi, smile.gif
Just joined yesterday. I used to own and run a dating site years ago, but this seems more easier and more straight forward,
except for the meta tags, etc, getting it ready for the search engines. Can anyone give me some advise
how i go about preparing it. TYVM.

Hi. I would suggest doing some keyword research. There are several tools available online for this (ex. google adwords keyword tool). Also I would analyse your competition for keywords. Good luck!

We are all in the same market but catering to different audiences. There is not just one way of getting traffic, but if you are new I would look at putting away so much money for an advertising campaign. I used Adwords and have even put ads in my local paper. Wishing you luck, it is a great business smile.gif

Meta tags are lesser important now days compared to your content. Search engines wised up to the idea of people loading meta tags with hundreds of keywords to get up rankings and so now they value relevant content in your pages and links to your site (quality sites linking to you not link farms etc).

This is true, although Meta Information should not be dispensed with.

Engines also look for a Heading tag, preferably <h1>, at or near the top of your page(s), e.g., <h1>Mysite.com is a dating and personal match site helping singles become couples.</h1>

You can style the <h1> to suit your site's motif in your CSS file.

Engines also look for relevance of content...and that includes consistency. In effect, it will be looking at how coherent your contently is structured for keywords in the content itself.

hi am pretty new my self and havent got a clue what i am doing. Do you actually make money from this? It seems to me 90% of the dating sites are full of s... (i dont want to swear but im sure u know what i mean) I've signed up with 100's and recieve mail straight away saying some1 likes me ect.

I know these are not real people, one time i had a girl saying she had read my profile and i sound interesting when my profile was empty.

Many sites say find true love, casual sex or friendship. Does any1 actually get any of them from these site's??

I know you are not the only one who runds these sites but you seem to have a few of them. i looked at your manchester one because thats where im from.

anyway any help you can give me will be much appreciated

Man, I hear you. I am very new to this myself. It looks like the first step is to learn html, to help your listings stand out. maybe we can help each other in this endeavor!! As we learn things, we can let each other know. keep in touch. blink.gif

Sorry to dissappoint you but this site is exactly the same as the others you mentioned, fake emails and fake profiles just to try and con people into signing up. I put up a bland profile with no photo but have women of all ages trying to get in touch. I asked WDP to comment but they have declined to do so despite a reminder. sad.gif

Hello silverdall,

I am Laura and I work in the Partners Support team. Could you please re-send me the e-mail you had sent to the Customer Support team and specify the usernames of the members who contacted you so we could look into the situation?

As to fake e-mails - If we were allowing ? or even creating ? fake profiles, we would probably not tell anybody so you will have to assume that I am telling the truth.

But anyway, we have never been involved in such thing, and we have a very advanced manual approval process of new profiles, based on user IP address along with many other criteria that could not be spotted by a computer. Besides, creating fake profiles is the quickest way to decrease conversion rates and to lose affiliates. And obviously, we do not want this.
