Hello,
I just started today and am not clear on some things. Number one, when I created my first site, I didn't understand how the domain situation worked; so I accidentally added the name of my regular hosting site (cox.net) to the name of my site that is hosted by WDP. Is there a way to change it, or do I need to have the site removed and start over?
Number two, I was very confused when I went to my admin area and could not see any link to my page where I could view what it looks like and make changes.
Number three, how do I create a 'links' page where I can add links to other sites, and do the sites all need to belong to the WDP network? In other words, can I link to any site or only specific ones?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

hey kelly

welcome! I'm also fairly new to WDP.
As for changing the URL, I'm not quite sure if you can do this, I don't think you can and it would most probably have to be done by an admin, if at all possible.
Editing your site, Login to the Admin click "My Sites" >> Select "Manage" next to your site >> "Front Page Layout" and to preview the site click the "Preview" next to the SAVE button.. this should show you your site. (make sure the "status" is Active and not still "new" (this means it must still be approved)
Links.. ive got loads of links linking to other partners so I don't think it has to remain in the WDP network, that would be quite pointless in anycase.
anyways... i hope this has helped from my own experience

Hi there kelly first off i would just like to say a very big welcome to WDP and you have made the correct choice.
For your first question can you let us know if you already have a domain name of your own or if you are using a WDP domain name. If you are using your own you need to change the address at your hosting company to WDP's addres. You also need to change the name servers at your domain managment and point them to WDP also. Once all this done WDP can process your account and get it up and running. (Olease feel free to message back if you need more help or info on this matter).
For your second question. If your account is not created and is under approval you will not be able to see your site. Also if you have not changed the name servers like explained above it will not work.. Once your name servers are changed and the address at your hosting provider is changed to WDP's it will or should be up and running within 24 hours... Once again if you need help or this explained in more detail please do post back......
WDP is very easy to use once you know how to. it took me about 12 hours to work things out and now its the best thing i have ever done (Most should agree)...
So once again welcome to WDP abd hang out there, make sure the info i stated above is changed or post back for more help if you need it mate....
Congrats on finding WDP and best regards from all of the Moderation Team at WDP

This information would help me allot in getting you the best responce on this board....

O.k., I think it could be something like www.passionatepartners.adultcrowd.cn , if that sounds all right.
I also wanted to know if I can use custom graphics. Is that possible with a Pre-designed layout?
Thanks for all your help!
(Sorry if I embarrassed you! I wasn't trying to be forward or anything, I'm happily married and have two great teenagers, ages 15 & 18.)

Hi Kelly,
Welcome to WDP. Can I suggest if you got the domain name wrong you just do another new one with the correct domain name and promote that one.
I think you will find it easier and faster than amending one which was a mistake.
I've been with WDP since last November and with a total abscence of knowledge have found it a bit of an uphill struggle, mainly because I've been trying to do things too fast.
I change lots of things at once and can't work out which one was the right one to do.
Can I suggest you either make a written or electronic log of anything you do to your sites, I have found that way if you make a mistake its easier to change back. Also don't expect a change to be immediate. It will need to be approved so don't go and change it again just because it doesn't look right straight away.
These are just a few tips I have learned while I've been trying to work out how the admin panel works.
As for your custom graphics you can only change the bit where it says change when you look at the front page layout in the admin panel.
As Michael said through the my sites manage bit, upload the file to file manager, at it in content (above front page mangement) then select it after it gets approved.
If not you can put it on as a banner at the bottom of the page using the add banners and links option.
Give it a go just try it on the one thats got the wrong domain name then if it goes wrong it doesn't matter too much.
Hope this helps, I'm getting further with suck it and see than I was trying to plan it all and work it out up front.

Thank you David and Michael!
I'm still not really clear on how I'm supposed to work out the domain issue. Let me tell you what my situation is. I opened a website account with cox.net. It's the kind that is generic (no personal domain). The only mistake I made when I created my first site here was that instead of putting the name of my actual site before the WDP domain name; I thought I was supposed to put "cox.net" in the text box. So it came out something like cox.net.nameofWDPdomain.com. I also created several other sites where I think I did it correctly, so only the first one is messed up.
(P.S. Michael, you have the most gorgeous green eyes, and your baby is absolutely adorable!!!)

Thanks Paul and Michael!
I think I like this suggestion:

As long as it isn't hurting anything, I'll just forget about the one that I messed up and work on my others. I'll also remember not to get frustrated when things don't change immediately. I've been used to a completely different interface, so I just need to adapt to this one.
Thanks again everyone!!

Hi Kelly, Welcome to WDP!
To add links to your link page, log in,on right side click my sites, then next to your site url click manage, then click edit links. Here you just add the html for the banners and links.
You can control the lay out to.
<!-- links page -->
<P><a href="http://yoursiteurl.com"/><IMG SRC ="your banner url"/></A></P>
<P> ad another etc....</P>
<P> ad another etc....</P>
This will stack up the banners on the page.
I havent tried it yet but a person could probobly use Tables and get real creative here.
Have Fun!!

Hi David.

But if you give me your log in details I would be happy to experiment on your site! JUST KIDDING!!!
LOL !
Im still trying to finger that stuff out, some I get, some not.
Seems like some templates have more or less available changes to them.
