Hopefully I've put this request into the right section, if I havn't, my most most sincere apologies and do of course, feel free to move this thread to a more appropriate section.

Ok, so not long ago signed up to WDP, got my first ever dating site set up: http://Introduction-Agency.com

To be perfectly honest, I'm looking for guidance upon how I can quickly move this to a more branded look, a more personal look / appearance if you like and now seeking advice, guidance, tips, whatever you've got towards that goal, if you would be so kind as to offer a few suggestions.

I'm aware that my first 'mistake' is that I've got far too broad a domain name, I should have probably gone for a niche dating domain instead, however, I can use this as a test bed to see how this system works.

Judging from the above link, what would you suggest that I do, where and in what order to get that more personal appearance that I'm after?

HTML only just starting to look at that and have at best at the moment, only a very basic understanding of it, so whatever instructions you chuck my way, could you please keep said instructions and / or advice very simple with walk-me-through, step by step what to click on where and in what order in the business administration panel as simple as you can possibly muster?

If you can assist me at all, without wasting too much of your own very valuable time, it would be greatly appreciated and of course, given time, I hope that I can reciprocate some assistance not only towards you personally, but hopefully towards other members too as I get more accustomed to using the system in place here.

Apologies for waffling, I'm a bit of a writer and love SEO, keyword research etc.

Like you, I am a newbie to dating sites, have never worked with html and have absolutely no knowledge on customising websites.
However, I have spent the last couple of months (patiently and frustratingly!) trawling through and attempting to customise my "flagship" niche dating website at www.cyprusloveaffairs.com

I have spent some very late nights doing all the work myself, but have picked up quite a few hints from reading through topics on the forum and helpful info from members and partners such as Lisa and Dan....

My site may appear a little "prissy" but this particular dating site is catering to a more conservative crowd and so I try to customise my front page accordingly and also refresh my news and tips articles regularly...

I think I am ready now to try and tackle some full blown local promotion, but right now I would appreciate some constructive criticism or hints and tips for improvement from fellow members of the forum.

hmm... Since I'm an educated Multimediadesigner I can come up with a lot of hints and tips...

First of all... Think it's great you're trying to explore the world of HTML and other codes

I of course went to your site to check it out!

Something you have to keep in mind is:

Is the design communicating to the right audience?
Is it easy to understand the message of the site.
How is the usability - Is it easy to go to the registrationpage, loginpage or what so ever!
When you read a text you read from the top left to the right bottom! Have you placed the most important things here?
How is the SEO on the site? (Search Engine Optimization) - I don't know if you have ever heard this word before! But defently something you should look up on the internet!

Some tips to improve your site as it is:

The first thing I did was click on your "Find your Special Someone -Search Image" - But nothing happend! Maybe a link directly to your registrationpage would be an idea?
I like the ideer of updating the articles often! Can tell you that the search engines (like google, yahoo i.e.) really likes this! A thing you should remember when updating text is to check if your META description and META Tags fits to your new content!

I had a look at your HTML code also. You need to make some very important changes here.

It is VERY important that you follow these rules regarding to the SEO. It might look good that you have all the META Tags planned, but with the amount you have it only works negative and you can get "blacklisted" from the search engines! Blacklisted is another word for Spamlisted...

Remove them all and start over

Two rules that you must NOT ignore:

1. Maximum of keyword (META tags) : 5-6! Do not place the same word twice!
2. Length of the META description: MAX 220 - 230 characters (including white spaces)!
- remember that the description is not only for the user but also for the search engine!
- Do not repeat the same word in your description more than 3 times!

If you do this you are not totally lost when people is trying to find you on Google for instans...
There is a lot of rules regarding to the SEO, and if you search the internet I'm sure there is a guide somewhere that can tell you what to be concerned about

The big one is also the Title, it is the first thing that is seen in the search engines. You need the name of your dating site and the audience you are targeting. Make it too big and the search engines will hate you, make it too keyword rich and they will call it spammy.

The best thing you can do is read, read and read more. Read everything you can about HTML, SEO, do not get conned by the companies that will submit them to 360 directories for 19.95 either. You make the site right...google and Yahoo will find you and give you some love
