It's funny reading all your comments and having been a member over a week now, how I am feeling exactly the same and that 8 months down the line since this topic started!
I'm a senior web designer by profession and own my own small business web design company (www.ableaf.com). I know my css and html like the back of my hand and I can tell you the page code that is used on our templates isn't the best (table based layouts) and that affect a lot of things (web browsers, loading times, SEO). I'm sure WDP know how to code using today's standards but as you mention it maybe a fact that they are being so successful and running away with it they are ignoring the basics now, which affects us all.
The admin and it's features are great but how do they exactly work.....?! No real documentation, no text to FULLY describe them with examples and yet it is these forums which people are asking the same question again and again. They get the answer and off they go but along comes another users and asks the same thing. It's really about time they sat people down and said "Right, the business is doing fantastic but lets get back to basics and improve the partners experience as they are key to us being a business".
Don't get me wrong I am really impressed with WDP and that's why I am using them but make yourselves REALLY STAND OUT AGAINST THE CROWD and get the templates, their editing capabilities and the partners experience a real thing to shout about. Maybe then we can all focus on the more juicier parts to getting our websites 100% successful above the rest.
